Vallisto Criolla, 2017, Calchaqui Valley, Salta, Argentina

About this wine

This wine is light in colour due to the pinkish coloured skins and has the potential to blow your mind. Or, at the very least, introduce you a completely ‘new’ grape variety. It looks light but it packs a delicious punch with raunchy acidity and playful, ripe tannins, almost like biting into a delicious red apple. The nose is lovely, almost exotic with charming floral notes, a subtle whiff of Turkish delight and ripe summer fruits.

Extremo because these grapes are grown at a staggering 2,600m in altitude on a vineyard planted in 1898! That’ll help to explain the amazing energy of the wine.

A little like 3 different noble grapes rolled into one: scented like Nebbiolo, juicy like Grenache and crunchy red fruit like Pinot Noir.

Try it slightly chilled on a summery day.
